Japanese Style Rice with Tuna

ingredients

1.5 cups Short Grain Rice (Sushi Rice)

2 cups Water

100 grams Canned Tuna, drained

2 tablespoons Soy Sauce

½ teaspoon Salt

For garnish:

15 grams Fresh Root Ginger, peeled and cut into thin strips

2 Green Onions, thinly sliced

1Wash the rice under cold water until the water runs clear and drain. Put rice into a pan with 2 cups of water and let it stand for 30 minutes.

2Then, season with soy sauce and salt. Give a quick stir and place the tuna on top of the rice. Cover the pan with a lid and bring to a boil on medium heat. Once boiled, turn the heat down to a simmer and let it cook for 12 minutes.

3Take pan off the heat but do not open the lid. Let it steam for 10-15 more minutes. Then, remove the lid and fluff up the rice with a fork. Serve in a bowl garnished with thinly sliced green onions and fresh ginger strips.
